Living Biblically and The Last Lecture

Okay, so NPR has become one of my very favorite things. At my old job, I used to listen to various NPR podcasts as I would work. But, after leaving work and returning to be a student, I stopped being on the computer so much and subsequently stopped tuning into NPR. However, I added it to my preset and have fallen in love with it again. Yesterday was a wickedly cool interview with a guy (an agnostic) who decided to live the laws of the Bible for one year. He discussed his journey of growing a beard, keeping the Sabbath holy, and praying. It was a fascinating interview! What was the outcome? Is he a faithful Christian now? No. He says he is now a reverent agnostic. He says he does not know if there is a God - but that he does believe in sacredness. Anyways - here is a link to the interview on NPR. Also, he recently wrote a book about his journey. I will most definitely be buying this one. Check it out.

Okay, next topic. So, for my Pathophysiology class I had to do a research paper on a disease of my choice. I chose Acute Lymphoid Leukemia - since I really want to work with cancer. Talking with my professor about my research paper one day he told me this crazy cool story about a professor who is dying of cancer. This professor was invited to give his last lecture at the end of the school year since his prognosis was only 3 to 6 months. Most professors at this school that give their last lecture talk about their amazing accomplishments, research, and findings. However, this professor goes on to give an amazing inspiring lecture on the importance of overcoming obstacles, of enabling the dreams of others, of seizing every moment. At the end of his lecture he closed by saying that every word he had just spoken was not for the hundreds of people listening but for his young boys who he will would only have a little bit more time with. He wanted them to know as they grew up what he had learned about life, that he had really lived it, and that he had loved it. Beautiful! Anyways, this book is back ordered EVERYWHERE. But, here is the link if you are interested. PS - The guy is quite attractive....
